Becker, a junior, carried the ball 14 times for 201 yards, including touchdown runs of 53 and 65 yards, as Hayden football earned its third straight trip to the Class 3A state championship game with a 46-0 home win over Santa Fe Trail. Becker also kicked a 25-yard field goal, went 3 of 3 on extra-point kicks to remain perfect on the season and passed for a 2-point conversion as the Wildcats improved to 12-0.

AUSTIN BROADIE, Washburn University

A fifth-year senior volleyball standout out of Wichita Trinity, Broadie was named the MIAA Player of the Year after helping lead the Ichabods to a 24-3 regular-season record and a share of the conference title. Broadie finished the regular season with 298 kills on .330 hitting while also contributing 54 blocks. Broadie had 15 matches with double-digit kills and two matches with 20-plus kills.

The MIAA Freshman of the Year, Henke had two goals and an assist on the weekend as Washburn University soccer advanced to the NCAA Soccer Sweet 16 with a pair of Central Region wins in Mankato, Minn. Henke, a Bishop Carroll product, had a goal and an assist in Friday's 2-0 win over Missouri Western and scored her 11th goal of the season in Sunday's 4-2 win in penalty kicks over top seed Minnesota State.

A freshman soccer standout, the Washburn Rural product scored her sixth goal of the season in Friday's 2-0 NCAA Central Region victory over Missouri Western in Mankato, Minn. and delivered the game-clinching penalty kick in Sunday's 4-2 PK victory over top seed Minnesota State as Washburn moved on to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament.

CANANN MITCHELL, Rossville

Mitchell, a senior quarterback/defensive back, had a hand in all three touchdowns as Rossville advanced to the Class 1A state championship game with a 21-18 come-from-behind road victory at Jackson Heights. Mitchell ran for a 51-yard touchdown and completed 10 and 20-yard TD passes to Cael Horgan along with a 2-point conversion pass to Horgan as the Bulldawgs improved to 11-1. Mitchell rushed for 94 yards on 22 carries and passed for 105 yards on an 8 of 12 performance.

HAILEY SCHMIDTLEIN, Hayden

A sophomore hitter, Schmidtlein was named the Centennial League volleyball player of the year after leading the Wildcats to a second-place finish in the Class 4A state tournament. Schmidtlein finished her season with 492 kills on a .330 hitting percentage and now has 932 career kills in just two seasons. Schmidtlein also contributed 296 digs, 54 blocks and 47 service aces on the year.
