The Washburn Ichabods will play their final game of the 2023 calendar season as they will host Northeastern State at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Lee Arena.

Washburn (6-4 overall, 2-2 in the MIAA) topped Missouri Western 83-77 on Saturday in St. Joseph.
The RiverHawks are 4-5 overall and 0-4 in the MIAA after falling at Rogers State 80-72 last Wednesday.
Northeastern State has lost its last four games since a 72-70 win over Ozarks on Nov. 20.
Tuesday's meeting will be the 22nd in the all-time series, which the Ichabods lead 11-10 after a 66-56 win Jan. 28 in Topeka.
Sophomore Sam Ungashick leads the Ichabods with a 17.3 scoring average in his first season at Washburn while averaging 3.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

Washburn University women's basketball will close out the 2023 portion of its schedule at 2 p.m. Tuesday against Northeastern State at Lee Arena.

WU, 7-3 overall and 2-2 in the MIAA, is coming off a 98-78 conference loss on the road against Missouri Western State on Saturday.
The Ichabods have gone 3-0 at home, 3-2 on the road and 1-1 in neutral court games.
The RiverHawks are off to a 4-5 start on the year and are 1-3 in the MIAA after a 58-44 loss to Rogers State on the road last Wednesday.
As a team Washburn averages 76.4 ppg on 44.6 percent shooting from the floor and 37.6 percent from 3-point range.
WU opponents average 60.2 points on 35.7 percent shooting and 26.2 percent from behind the 3-point arc.
The Ichabods are pulling down 41.3 rebounds per game while holding opponents to just 33.4. They also average 13.6 assists per game while opponents only average 9.9.
Senior Aubree Dewey leads Washburn offensively with a 14.0-point average on 44.4 percent shooting while playing a team high 32.9 minutes per game.
Dewey is also averaging 6.0 assists and is averaging 5.4 rebounds from the point guard position and 1.8 steals per contest.

Washburn Rural junior wrestling star Easton Broxterman, a returning Class 6A state champion and two-time state finalist, picked up another big victory on Saturday at Bartle Hall in Kansas City, Mo., winning the 132-pound title in the Kansas City Stampede.

Broxterman emerged from a 58-wrestler 132-pound field to capture the championship with a 5-0 decision over Miller Sipes of Staley, Mo.
Broxterman, now 18-1 on the season, helped Washburn Rural finish in a tie for 25th place in the huge tournament field.

Rossville trio reaches milestones in LadyCat Classic
Rossville standout senior wrestlers Keera Lacock, Kendra Hurla and Hailey Horton all celebrated milestone victories in the 37-school LadyCat Classic at Basehor-Linwood.
Lacock, a 115-pounder, and 120-pounder Hurla both reached the 100-win milestone during Saturday's tournament while 155-pounder Horton posted her 100th win by pin in the event.
Lacock won the 115-pound title with a 1 minute, 43-second pin over Tonganoxie's Stella Bailey, her fourth pin of the tournament, while Hurla earned the title in the 120-pound division with a pin over Olathe South's Nicole Redmond at the 3:17 mark of the final, Hurla's third tournament pin.
Both Lacock and Hurla, a three-time state champ, are now 11-0 on the season.
Horton went 4-1 in the tournament to finish third at 155 pounds, with all four or her victories coming by pin.
Washburn Rural junior Molly Spader won the 105-pound title in the LadyCat Classic with a 4-0 win over Shawnee Heights sophomore Connie Burns while Seaman junior Koti Best claimed the 130-pound championship, recording a pin in 1:26 over Dodge City's Ariana De La Rosa in the final.
Spader improved to 12-2 on the season while Best improved to 10-0 with nine pins.
Shawnee Heights posted a second-place team finish in the tournament with 145 points, with Burns one of three T-Birds to post top-three finishes in their weight classes.

A junior returning Class 6A state champion, Broxterman emerged from a field of 58 wrestlers as the 132-pound champion in the Kansas City Stampede Saturday at Bartle Hall in Kansas City, Mo. Broxterman, who is 18-1 on the season, captured the championship with a 5-0 decision over Miller Sipes of Staley, Mo.

KENDRA HURLA, Rossville
Hurla, a senior three-time state-champion wrestler, recorded the 100th win of her high school career en route to the 120-pound championship in the 37-school LadyCat Classic at Basehor-Linwood Saturday. Hurla, who is 11-0 on the season, pinned Olathe South's Nicole Redmond at the 3:17 mark of the championship match and went 5-0 on the day with a bye, three pins and a 10-3 decision.
Keera Lacock
KEERA LACOCK, Rossville
A senior 115-pound standout wrestler, Lacock reached the 100-win career milestone in Saturday's 37-school LadyCat Classic at Basehor-Linwood on the way to the 115-pound title. Lacock pinned Tonganoxie's Stella Bailey at the 1:43 mark of the championship match. Now 11-0 on the year, Lacock received a first-round bye before pinning four straight opponents.

The Washburn Ichabods picked up an 83-77 men's basketball win over Missouri Western on Saturday in St. Joseph, Mo., surviving a 19-2 run midway through the second half to improve to 6-4 and 2-2 in the MIAA.

Washburn will host Northeastern State at 4 p.m. on Tuesday prior to leaving for Christmas break.
Washburn led 62-47 with 12:31 to go after back-to-back-to-back 3-pointers by Sam Ungashick, Jake Schadegg and Brady Christiansen before the Griffons came back with their big run after they hit eight of 11 shots while the Ichabods were limited to one of 10 shooting as Missouri Western took a 66-64 lead with 5:48 to go.
Michael Keegan hit a 3-pointer to put the Ichabods back in front, but two free throws by Missouri Western (8-3, 3-3) put the Griffons back in front, 68-67.
Buckets by Christiansen and Ungashick pushed Washburn's lead back to four at 72-68 with 4:24 remaining, but the Griffons hit a 3-pointer to get back within a point.
From the 3:34 mark to the end of the game, Washburn connected on four of its final five shots, including a 9-0 run to take an 81-71 lead with 1:13 left.
