Seven repeat selections and six state medalists, led by Seaman Class 5A singles runnerup Emma Sweeney and four-time state medalist Molly Gorman, headline the 2025 All-City girls tennis team.
Sweeney, a junior, and senior Gorman are both All-City repeat picks along with Seaman senior Peyton Henry and junior Camryn Lux, Topeka High seniors Madeline Deters and Ava Ritter and sophomore Hailey Caryl.
Sweeney swept city, United Kansas Conference and regional titles before her second-place state finish while Gorman earned her fourth state medal -- two doubles, two singles -- with a sixth-place singles finish.
Cair Paravel Latin junior Madilyn Poole earned her first state medal last weekend with a third-place 3A-1A singles finish.
High's Deters earned her second straight 6A medal with a sixth-place singles finish while Henry and Lux placed seventh in 5A doubles as Seaman finished second as a team at state after sweeping city, United Kansas Conference and regional championships.
Also earning All-City recognition were Washburn Rural city and regional doubles champions Julia Katzer and Halle Owen, both juniors, and Rural No. 2 city doubles champions Alizah Alvarez-Chedzoy, a senior, and sophomore Annie Henderson. The four Rural picks, all state qualifiers, helped the Junior Blues win a 6A regional team championship.
All-City selections are based on finishes in the city meet.

ALIZAH ALVAREZ-CHEDZOY, Washburn Rural -- Alvarez-Chedzoy, a senior, teamed with sophomore Annie Henderson to advance to the Class 6A state tournament in doubles. Alvarez-Chedzoy and Henderson won the city championship in No. 2 doubles and qualified for the state tournament with a fifth-place finish at regionals, helping the Junior Blues win the regional team title. Alvarez-Chedzoy and Henderson went 2-2 at state to finish 9-2 on the year.
HAILEY CARYL, Topeka High -- Caryl, a sophomore, advanced to the Class 6A state tournament in doubles for the second straight season, teaming with senior Ava Ritter. Caryl and Ritter finished third in the city championships in No. 1 doubles and followed that up with a fourth-place finish in the Centennial League meet and qualified for state with a third-place finish in regional competition. Caryl and Ritter finished the season with a 24-10 record.
MADELINE DETERS, Topeka High -- Deters, a senior, earned her second straight Class 6A state singles medal in her third state appearance, posting a career-high sixth-place finish. Deters finished second in the city tournament in No. 1 singles before winning Centennial League and regionals championships. Deters posted a 3-2 record at state to finish her season with a 32-6 record.
MOLLY GORMAN, Seaman -- A senior, Gorman finished sixth in Class 5A singles to help Seaman finish second as a team. Gorman finished her high school career with four straight state medals, earning state doubles medals as a freshman and sophomore before switching to singles and earning back-to-back medals as a junior and senior. Gorman won the city championship in No. 2 singles before finishing second to junior teammate Emma Sweeney in the United Kansas Conference and regional tournaments. Gorman, 27-8 on the season, helped the Vikings sweep city, UKC and regional team titles.
ANNIE HENDERSON, Washburn Rural -- Henderson, a sophomore, teamed with senior Alizah Alvarez-Chedzoy to advance to the Class 6A state tournament in doubles. Henderson and Alvarez-Chedzoy won the city championship in No. 2 doubles and qualified for the state tournament with a fifth-place finish at regionals, helping the Junior Blues win the regional team crown. Henderson and Alvarez-Chedzoy went 2-2 at state to finish 9-2 on the year.
PEYTON HENRY, Seaman -- A senior, Henry teamed with junior Camryn Lux to earn a seventh-place doubles finish in the Class 5A state tournament as Seaman posted a second-place finish as a team. A two-time state medalist, Henry and Lux finished second in the city meet in No. 1 doubles before winning the doubles championship in the United Kansas Conference meet and finishing third at regionals. Henry and Lux posted a 28-7 record on the season, helping Seaman sweep city, UKC and regional team titles.
JULIA KATZER, Washburn Rural -- Katzer, a junior, teamed with fellow junior Halle Owen to earn a doubles berth in the Class 6A state tournament after the Washburn Rural standouts captured the city championship in No. 1 doubles and won a regional title to help the Junior Blues take the regional team championship. Katzer and Owen posted a 26-6 record on the season.

MADILYN POOLE, Cair Paravel Latin -- Poole, a junior singles player, capped an outstanding 2025 season for Cair Paravel Latin, a Class 2A school, with a third-place finish in the 3A-1A state tournament in her second state appearance. Poole finished third in No. 1 singles in the city championships and followed that up with a regional title. Poole posted a 19-3 record on the season.
AVA RITTER, Topeka High -- A senior, Ritter teamed with sophomore Hailey Caryl to advance to the Class 6A state tournament in doubles for the second straight season. Ritter and Caryl finished third in the city championships in No. 1 doubles and followed that up with a fourth-place finish in the Centennial League meet and qualified for state with a third-place finish in regional competition. Ritter and Caryl finished the season with a 24-10.
EMMA SWEENEY, Seaman -- Sweeney was the city's most dominant player as junior, including earning her third straight Class 5A state singles medal with a career-high runnerup finish Saturday at Kossover Tennis Center while leading Seaman to a second-place team finish. Sweeney swept city, United Kansas Conference and 5A regional singles championships as the Vikings swept the team titles in all three of those events. Sweeney posted a 30-2 record this fall, with both of her losses coming against 5A state champion Mia Jaramillo of Andover.
