Shawnee Heights sophomore Luke Perkins placed 3rd in the 100-yard butterfly in Saturday's Class 5A-1A state swimming and diving championships at the Shawnee Mission School District Aquatic Center in Lenexa. to pace city swimmers at state.

Perkins, a double medalist as a freshman, earned a pair of medals again in Friday's state meet, adding a 7th-place finish in the 200 individual medley.

Perkins clocked a time of 53.86 seconds en route to his 3rd-place finish in the IM and swam the 200 IM in 2:03.17.

Seaman had a pair of 5A medalists, with Patrick Biggs placing 7th in diving (316.30) while Colin O'Rourke finished 8th in the 100 fly (54.88).

• Washburn Rural's Dagen Clouse was a double medalist in Friday's 6A state swimming and diving championships.

A junior, Clouse finished 6th in the 50-yard freestyle in 22.11 and teamed with Yeager Larson, Keats Larson and Nathen Trachta to finish 7th in the 200 freestyle relay (1:30.87 seconds).

T-BIRD GIRLS WIN UKC BOWLING TITLE

Shawnee Heights girls held off Lansing to win Friday's United Kansas Conference bowling championship, taking a 2,818-2,803 victory over the Lions.

Karli Gilliland finished 3rd individually with a three-game 568 series to pace the T-Birds while Brylee Prockish was fifth (533) and Samara Colon 7th (529).

Heights' boys finished second to De Soto by a 3,330-3,309 margin.

Aidan VanMetre finished 5th in the individual standings with a 592 series while Jonathan Egly was 6th (589) and William Shaffer 9th (577).
