Hayden got a big bounce-back win Thursday in Wellsville’s Top Gun Tournament, rolling to a 54-30 consolation win over the host Eagles behind senior Rhen Calhoon’s game-high 24 points.
Calhoon was joined in double figures by freshman Lauren Sandstrom, who had 10 points and 2 3-pointers, as the Wildcats improved to 6-5 on the season.
The Wildcats doubled up the Eagles in a 10-5 first quarter and led 26-15 at the half. Hayden then put the game away with a 21-6 third quarter, opening up a commanding 26-point lead entering the fourth.
Junior Carly Stuke, Hayden’s leading scorer on the season, had missed the Wildcats’ previous game with an injury, but returned to score 7 points Thursday.
Wellsville, which fell to 0-8 on the season, was led by senior Jadyn Troutman with 15 points.
