Hayden's girls soccer team ended a brief two-game losing streak with a home 10-0 Centennial League romp past Junction City Tuesday afternoon.

Hayden, which had dropped back-to-back 1-0 decisions to McPherson and Washburn Rural, put Tuesday's game away early, opening up a 6-0 advantage just 12 minutes into the first hal.

The Wildcats, who improved to 4-2-1 overall and 1-1-0 in the Centennial League, led 9-0 at halftime before ending the game by way of the 10-goal spread rule on a goal from senior Briahna Barnett.

Freshman Reese Huscher registered a three-goal hat trick for the Wildcats while senior Sloane Sims had a pair of goals.

Hayden also got goals from junior Jill Lenherr, junior Hanna Bartlett, junior Mary Burenheide and freshman Carsyn Broxterman.

Freshmen Kadence Watts and Lauren Borjon combined for the shutout in goal for the Wildcats.

Hayden will play a non-league game at St. James Academy on Friday.

Seaman soccer rides first-half onslaught to 14-0 win over KC-Turner

Seaman ended Tuesday's United Kansas Conference soccer game at halftime after scoring 14 first-half goals en route to a 14-0 win over Kansas City-Turner at Seaman.

The Vikings, who posted their second straight victory, improved to 8-1-0 overall and 4-1-0 in the UKC.

Seaman will travel to Junction City on Friday for a non-league contest.

T-Bird baseball takes 12-3 UKC decision over Leavenworth

Shawnee Heights baseball improved to 7-4 overall and 6-4 in the United Kansas Conference with a 12-3 league win over Leavenworth Tuesday at the Bettis Family Sports Complex.

Sophomore Deacon Pomeroy went  three for four in the game with a home run, triple and double.

The T-Birds will travel to Leavenworth on Thursday.

Charger softball notches twinbill sweep over De Soto

Topeka West came through with a United Kansas Conference softball sweep over De Soto Tuesday at Hummer Sports Park.

The Chargers took an 8-2 decision in the opener and beat the Wildcats 12-9 in the second game.

With the sweep Topeka West improved to 5-7 overall and 4-6 in the UKC.

Seaman softball earns UKC split with Lansing

Seaman's softball team bounced back from a 5-2 first-game loss to Lansing with a 15-0 United Kansas Conference romp to earn a twinbill split with the Lions Tuesday at Seaman.

The Vikings are now 6-4 overall an 5-4 in the UKC.

Seaman will play a non-league doubleheader at Washburn Rural on Friday.

Silver Lake softball improves to 10-0 with sweep over Riley County

Tens were wild for Silver Lake softball on Tuesday, with the Eagles taking a pair of 10-0 Mid-East League wins at Riley County to improve to 10-0 on the season.

Silver Lake opened the first game with two runs in the first inning and four in the second before adding four runs in the top of the fifth.

Junior Avery Wende pitched a five-inning three-hitter while striking out seven Falcons. The game ended after five innings due to the 10-run spread.

Silver Lake had 14 hits in the game, including three apiece from junior McKinley Kruger and sophomore Taylor Zordel and two from sophomore Kira Lowrey.

Kruger knocked in three runs and Lowrey two in the win.

Silver Lake, 6-0 in the Mid-East League, led 3-0 through three innnings in the nightcap before erupting for four runs in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth.

Sophomore Kendra Cook pitched the first four innings for Silver Lake before Paige Heinen pitched the final two innings of the shutout.

Zordel had two hits for the Eagles while Reese Dorsey, Makenzie McDaniel and Cook all had two RBI.
