After winning the United Kansas Conference title on Tuesday, the Seaman girls' tennis team added a Class 5A regional championship on Saturday at Kossover Tennis Center, qualifying its entire team for Friday and Saturday's state meet at Salina, while Shawnee Heights junior Jette Glasenapp punched her ticket to state with the regional singles title.

Senior Katie Krumins and sophomore Molly Gorman won the doubles championship witn a win over teammates Kate Eckert, a senior, and freshman Camryn Lux in an all-Seaman doubles final while Viking freshman Emma Sweeney and junior Sidney Chinn finished second and third in singles.

Krumins and Gorman, who have now swept city, UKC and regional titles, topped teammates Eckert and Lux 6-1, 6-1  in the doubles championship

match while Sweeney dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision to Heights' Glasenapp in the singles final and Chinn finished third in singles by injury default after falling to Glasenapp in the semifinals.

"A great day, it was a lot of fun, just feeling that energy from all the girls,'' Seaman coach Jamie Robinson said. "It's the result of hard work. This is an all year around sport now and most of the girls play year-around. They take a lot of pride in their tennis and they were looking forward to this.

"Everybody's excited about going to Salina for state.''

Glasenapp, a foreign exchange student from Germany, has now swept city, UKC and regional championships in singles and lost just one game in four matches at regionals.

Glasenapp will take a 34-2 record into the state tournament while Krumins and Gorman are 23-2.

Sweeney is 24-9 on the season and Chinn 21-12 while Lux and Eckert are 15-5.

The 5A state tournament will be played Friday and Saturday at the Salina Tennis Center.
