Rossville opened Class 2A District 3 play with a 70-0 road romp at Atchison County Friday night, with the Bulldawgs evening their record at 2-2 on the season.

Rossville jumped out to a 20-0 first-quarter advantage and took a 35-0 lead to the locker room at halftime.

The Bulldawgs tacked on 28 points in the third quarter while forcing a running clock due to the 45-point spread rule, and Rossvill ended its second with a fourth-quarter TD.

Rossville senior quarterback Camden Horak threw for three first-half touchdowns for the Bulldawgs while junior Tayson Horak finished the night with four touhdowns and a 2-point conversion.

Tayson Horak caught 26 and 22-yard touchdown passes from Camden Horak and also ran for a 39-yard TD and returned a punt 55 yards for a score.

Junior Seth Catron caught a 14-yard pass from C. Horak and ran for a 1-yard TD while sophomore Conner Bush scored on 9 and 7-yard runs and sophomores Canann Mitchell and Caleb Broxterman scored on 1-yard runs.

Up next for the Bulldawgs is next Friday's annual War on 24 against Silver Lake at Rossville.

TOPEKA HIGH 41, EMPORIA 10 -- Topeka High trailed 10-6 at halftime Friday night before scoring 35 unanswered points in the second half to take a 41-10 Centennial League road victory at Welch Stadium.

Friday's win improved the Trojans to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the Centennial League while Emporia fell to 0-4, 0-1. 

Topeka High will be at home next Friday to host Wichita Northwest in a non-league game at Hummer Sports Park.

HIGHLAND PARK 40, KANSAS CITY-HARMON 6 -- Highland Park is off to a 4-0 start to the season for the second straight year, rolling to a 40-6 Meadowlark Conference road victory Friday night.

Highland Park, also 4-0 in the Meadowlark Conference, will travel to Lincoln Prep (Mo.) next Friday for a non-league game.

Lincoln Prep handed the Scots one of their two regular-season losses last season.

HAYDEN 64, JEFFERSON WEST 0 -- Unbeaten Hayden opened Class 3A District 4 play with a 64-0 road romp past Jefferson West.

The Wildcats are now 4-0 on the season while Jefferson West fell to 1-3.

Hayden will continue district play at home next Friday night against Perry-Lecompton. 

SILVER LAKE 38, ROCK CREEK 35 -- Silver Lake improved to 3-1 overall and a perfect 3-0 in the Mid-East League with a hard-earned 38-35 win over Rock Creek (2-2, 2-1) at Silver Lake.

The Eagles, whose lone loss came against undefeated Hayden in Week 2, will make the short trip to Rossville for the annual War on 24 next Friday night.

Next Friday's game will be Silver Lake's Class 2A District 3 opener.

LYNDON 58, CAIR PARAVEL LATIN 30 -- Cair Paravel had its two-game win streak snapped by undefeated Lyndon, 58-30, Friday night at Hummer Sports Park. 

Friday night was the Eight-Man Division I District 2 opener for both the Tigers and Lions.

Cair Paravel (2-3 overall, 0-1 district) will host Burlingame next Friday night in a district contest.

LANSING 28, SEAMAN 21 -- Seaman suffered its second straight single-digit United Kansas Conference defeat Friday night, with the Vikings dropping a 28-21 decision at Lansing.

Seaman, now 2-2 overall and in the UKC, dropped a 33-30 overtime decision at Shawnee Heights the previous week.

The Vikings will travel out of state next Friday for a non-conference game at Blair Oaks High School in Jefferson City, Mo. 

BASEHOR-LINWOOD 42, SHAWNEE HEIGHTS 14 -- Basehor-Linwood jumped out to a big lead en route to handing Shawnee Heights its first loss of the season with a 42-14 home United Kansas Conference victory.

The Bobcats improved to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in the UKC while Shawnee Heights fell to 3-1 overall and in the UKC.

Shawnee Heights will travel to De Soto next Friday for a UKC contest.

PIPER 34, TOPEKA WEST 0 -- Piper kept Topeka West winless on the season, with the Pirates blanking the Chargers 34-0 Friday night in a United Kansas Conference game at Piper.

Piper improved to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in the UKC while Topeka West fell to 0-4 overall and in the UKC.

Topeka West will play a Thursday night game at Hummer Sports Park against Lansing.
